Following the design and fit out of the new HQ at 35 Fountain Street, Manchester for Rentalcars.com, OBI Property has been appointed to remodel the existing 63,000 sq ft operations centre at Sunlight House, Manchester and the fit out works on the first floor of 35 Fountain Street.

Hailed as Manchester and the UK’s coolest office by the local and wider press, OBI Property’s design for the second to sixth floors at 35 Fountain Street brought the Rentalcars.com customer experience to life for the 400 staff, with each floor dedicated to a different theme – from renting a car for a beach holiday to a road trip across the States.  Now the company which hires out in excess of 5 million cars a year, has exercised its option to take the first floor of Fountain Street, in a deal in which they were advised on by OBI Property.

At Sunlight House, which is home to 700 operations staff, OBI Property will be designing the space around the theme of Manchester and its people. The fit out is scheduled to be completed in early 2016.

James Scott, lead of the Workplace Consultancy department, OBI Property said:  “Working with such an open-minded and creative client like Rentalcars.com is great.  When we were engaging on the design for 35 Fountain Street, we really got to know how the business worked and how we could improve the productivity, happiness, interaction, health and wellbeing throughout the company.

“We were able to create a place that the team want to be in and work more productively, as well as having some fun too. We aim to create an equally exciting work place at Sunlight House but using a completely different theme.”
