OBI Property has announced sportswear giant Puma has agreed to increase its work space at Canada House, Chepstow Street, Manchester, M1 5FW by 3,500 sq ft.  The company, which originally moved in to the building in 2007, will now occupy both the fifth and sixth floors – totalling 15,100 sq ft on a nine year lease.

Puma’s commitment to Canada House comes just a few weeks after work started on the £3 million transformation of the building by owners LJ Partnership.

George Haddo, LJ Partnership said: “I am thrilled Puma will be taking over the whole of the fifth and sixth floors in Canada House.  We’ve discussed the refurbishment project with them at length and they are as excited about it as we are.”

Simon Venediger, finance director, Puma said:  “We’ve enjoyed being in Canada House for the past seven years and we’re delighted about the work LJ Partnership and OBI Property are doing to transform the building.  Once we’d seen the plans, we knew we wanted to stay and take the opportunity to expand our space.”

Andrew Cowell, transactions and asset management, OBI Property said:  “To have a leading global sports brand such as Puma reaffirm its commitment and expansion in Canada House is fantastic news.  Puma provides an amazing working environment for both its staff and clients and they are a great occupier to have within the building.

Puma occupies the fifth and sixth floors.  Bannatyne’s gym and swimming pool operates from the basement and Historic England are amongst the existing tenants.

OBI Property is sole leasing agent on Canada House as well as providing project management for the transformation. Workspace are main contractors and Zerum provided planning advice.

The work at Canada House will complete in two phases, with a range of office suites to be completed by the end of the summer and the full project completed by the end of the year.

The building’s infrastructure is being upgraded while a new cycle park will be installed in the basement, with a café, meeting space and screening room added to the ground floor.  The available office suites ranging from 250 sq ft to 9,200 sq ft on the first. second, third and fourth floors will be fully refurbished.
